Ironically Irish

Return to glory, huh?
Two losses at home.
Opponents records horrible (and that's including 11-0 USC).
Beat ranks teams with the power of Pittsburgh (lost to Ohio U.) and Tennessee (lost to Vanderbilt).
They won the games they should have won.
Didn't Terrible Ty run off to a grrrrrrrrrrrreat start and earn a trip to the Fiesta Bowl? How'd it go from there?

Maybe it's just a bit to soon for cannonizing Saint Charlie.

P.S. They lost the game pictured.

To answer you questions:

1. "Didn't Terrible Ty run off to a grrrrrrrrrrrreat start and earn a trip to the Fiesta Bowl?" Yes, then No. The Irish did begin 2002 by going 8-0. During Willingham's tenure the Irish went to the Gator Bowl (2002) and the Insight Bowl (2004 - game coached by defensive coordinator Kent Baer). They did not go to the Fiesta Bowl during those years.

2. "How'd it go from there?" Not well.

P.S. You are incorrect in stating that the Irish lost the game pictured, unless by "they" you mean Michigan State. The cover photo is from the 09/21/02 game which the Irish won, 21-17.

OK, my bad. They got beat 41-9 by Oregon State in Bob Davie's farewell game. Oops.

If the MSU game pictured is the 2002 game then that is even dumber! If you're proclaiming a teams meteoric rise back to the top, surely there was at least one picture from the present to illustrate the rise!

The point is this, I don't hate them for getting the ink they do because they are ND. Not at all. That is part of the game when you're a major program. I'm cool with that. Ohio State gets by on name at times too. But, they are getting a bit carried away right now. It's Weis-mania!

And, if all else fails, we'll go with Jinxy here...

Kill 'em all.
